The online application portal for the 2024 Program is closed.
Step 1
In the first step you will provide information about yourself and the names of two people who will write letters supporting your application. We strongly recommend that you complete this step by the suggested deadline to give your writers adequate time to submit their letters. Completing step 1 of the application indicates your interest in the program and will let us notify the writers of your request for letters of recommendation.
Proceed to Step 1 of the Application Process
Suggested Deadline for Step 1: Friday, January 12, 2024
Step 2
In the second step you will provide information about your academic background, research experiences and skills, and you will be asked to describe your research interests. Because the second step of the application process is separate from step 1, some duplication of information will be requested. Completion of this step of the application along with receipt of the letters concludes the application process. The deadline for completing step 2, which includes receiving the letters, is given below. The materials needed to complete step 2 include:
- Unofficial college transcript (PDF file or screenshot). Please check your file before uploading to make sure it is readable!
- Personal statement (PDF, Word, or plain text format): Your personal statement should describe your academic and research goals and how participation in the TUNL REU program would help you achieve these goals. Be specific about why you are interested in nuclear & particle physics research and why this program in particular interests you. In addition, you should describe any previous scientific research experience you have had as well as any technical skills that you have that are relevant to physics research.
Upon completion of Step 1, Proceed to Step 2 of the Application Process
Deadline for Step 2: Wednesday, January 24, 2024 by midnight (EST)
Confidentiality: All materials submitted in connection with your application will become part of our confidential admissions files. Only members of the admissions committee and staff responsible for administration of the REU program will have access to these files.
