Join the Duke SPACE Initiative for a coffee hour and seminar with Congresswoman Valerie Foushee, Ranking Member of the Space & Aeronautics Subcommittee of the U.S. House Science, Space & Technology Committee.

The first half of the event will be a networking session - a chance for students, faculty, staff, and alumni to meet other Blue Devils who are interested in space science, medicine, policy, history, sci-fi, and ensuring a sustainable future for humanity in space to gather and get to know each other.

The second half will feature a moderated discussion with the Congresswomanon the future of U.S. space policy, including priorities for the Space & Aeronautics Subcommittee, the NASA funding landscape, and opportunities for the Research Triangle to contribute to the nation's space enterprise. The conversation will also touch on topics such as planetary defense, the role of AI in space operations, regulatory challenges facing the space sector, and support for space-related research in higher education. Students interested in careers at the intersection of science and public service will have the chance to hear the Congresswoman's advice and insights firsthand.
